Week 4 of the College Football Season is in the Books!!!
If you didn't enjoy this weekend's FBS matchups, just pack it in and go watch cricket. Lots of fun games Thursday and Friday leading up to Saturday's battles. Lots of games impacted by "above the neck" plays with clock management and fair catch strategies that were called into question (with the former leading to a major coaching dismissal).
On the tail end of Week 4 of the FBS schedule, we now start to see receivers make repeat appearances on the Top 20 for Return on Investment. In short, ROI represents the amount of yards a Wide Receiver generates in excess of his distribution - Post Season ROI will consider Targets, Receptions and Yards, however, In-Season ROI will consider just Receptions and Yards (unless someone knows a site that provides target data during the season).

Top 20 FBS ROI with New #1 - Tennessee's Josh Malone!
Here's this week's Top 20 ROI WRs for FBS (FCS, Division II and Division III Top 20 will be posted later this week).
Twelve receivers have been in the Top 20 list multiple times so far this season with TAMU's Josh Reynolds and Hawaii's Marcus Kemp having made the list each week of publication so far in the 2016-17 season.
Josh Malone of Tennessee not only cracks the top 10 for the first time this season, he debuts at #1! As amazing as this seems it should be considered that Josh fell short of appearing on each of the first two lists because he had not enough receptions to statistically qualify. In fact, using raw numbers, he has been #1 since the first list; it's only this week that he finally has enough catches to be at least one standard deviation from the average of the top 150 WRs. This Week's Players to watch:
Friday
- Toledo's Cody Thompson vs. BYU - Thompson was a Top 20 ROI receiver each week before the Rocket's bye this past Saturday. He's had extra rest to face a BYU team that is 87th in the nation in passing defense efficiency.
Saturday
- Syracuse's Amba Etta-Tawo plays a road game at Met Life Field vs. the reeling Fighting Irish (111th in passing defense efficiency) for a nationally televised game.
- Iowa State's Allen Lazard (#9 in last week's Top 20) gets a chance to prove he is a top WR as his Cyclones host Baylor's #1 passing defense. A stellar performance here could send his draft stock soaring.
- James Washington of Oklahoma State has the 111 ranked passing defense in the form of the Texas Longhorns (the 22nd ranked team in the nation) coming to town. A big game against a ranked opponent is just want he needs.
- WR1 (in terms of ROI) Josh Malone is set to go to Georgia to face a Bulldog team that looked like puppies last week against Ole Miss. who rolled up 330 yards and 3 TDs. Georgia will be looking to make a statement and so Malone's mettle will be tested in this contest.
- Wisconsin's Jazz Peavy will look to make a name for himself (but, what name is better than "Jazz"?) vs. Michigan at the Big House in a match up that will also feature prior Top 20 ROI WR Amana Darboh.
- TCU's John Diarse (who graduated from LSU in 3 years before transferring) has cracked the Top 20, but can he stay with 1-2 schedule victim Oklahoma, who lost against red hot Houston and playoff likely the OSU?
